Precision and quality. How important are they in our work?

Precision and quality are fundamental to the machining services we offer. We are aware that quality is a crucial element of any business relationship and for this reason, our focus on quality goes far beyond just dimensional accuracy.

At Foma, we are committed to the care and respect of the working conditions in our companies, the correct handling of materials, and the provision of ancillary services to our customers such as documentation, audits, and qualitative and quantitative analysis of our production. These are just some of the activities we carry out to ensure quality in our precision machining.

To achieve this, we constantly invest in research into modern machinery, state-of-the-art tools and advanced technologies for dimensional inspections. But the fundamental aspect of our machining is guaranteed by the people who work in the company every day and the methods used to ensure that the required specifications are met.

Each customer, depending also on the target sector, has different requirements in terms of documentation, traceability, sampling levels and much more. All always guaranteed by an ISO 9001 certified management system.

Quality is one of the priorities in machining and the design activity is the starting point to guarantee it. Even though we produce components according to our customers' drawings and specifications, the initial phase of any production involves redesigning the components, designing a work and control cycle, and setting up tools and measuring instruments to verify the effectiveness of production. It is essential, at this stage, to have specialised and highly qualified personnel working as a team to ensure maximum quality.

We select the best raw materials, which are certified and checked at the time of delivery, and each machine set-up is validated by our Quality Control personnel before production starts. During production, our departmental staff carries out pre-determined dimensional checks that are saved and archived in our ERP, so that they can be consulted at any time.

For the machining of large components for the oil and gas industry, the possibility of error is practically zero. Working on large parts with materials dedicated to a specific order batch, there is no room for error. Measurements take place during the machining process. Inspection and production in this case become one and the same, and really come close to the concept of 'tailoring work', dedicated to the production of individual components for heavy machining.

We are also able to meet our customers' requirements for the other types of machining we deal with: milling, turning and surface treatments.

We provide our customers with additional documentation such as:

  • Samples with PPAP level 3;

  • Control plans;

  • Measurement reports;

  • Process FMEAs;

  • 100% sorting services on optical machines.

We are constantly striving to improve our production and to better meet our customers' needs, always guaranteeing the highest quality of our precision machining.
